Over 250 Words

How do you sum up what you want to do as a creator in 250 words? It must be an excercise in attrition, to bombard your writer's block inhibitions until you just have to say it. I don't know if I'm at that point. I see what I want to do in my career in my daydreams. I see that ultimate goal of one of my ideas made into a film. I see the goal of getting a job as an editor on industrial films to support myself. I see myself at graduation, finishing up feature length scripts, shooting proof-of-concept footage for a crowdfunding website. They are in my daydreams, but they aren't going to be pipedreams. That's why I'm in school and in this class. It's time for some these to become reality.

All my life all I ever wanted to be was a filmmaker...or something to do with film

I'm Ronald Iniego, in case you didn't see the blog name. I'm not just after a degree, I want the skills. I haven't worked with a camera yet, but I have worked on screenplays and studied the form for years. That is just fun for me, coming up with ideas and writing it down. Some start as long paragraphs, outlined for the 3 acts. Others are just single sentences waiting for the inspiration or second idea that I can combine with it. Some of thse ideas are too big, but others are feasible.

It's not original to say Martin Scorsese is an influence, but I think my first exposure to him is unique. When I was about 9 or 10, I stumbled upon Goodfellas on TV. That opening blew me away and I never changed the channel. It got me thinking about movies as more than entertainment, that they were something more. Just as big an influence are the action directors like Paul Verhoeven and James Cameron. There are times when just a genre B-movie can crossover to A-quality and Total Recall and Cameron's Terminator pictures cross it. That's what I want to do in my pictures. To take an idea and elevate it to go well beyond expectations. There are the disenfranchised actors, women and people of color, who don't get to be the main character and I want to write specifically for them.
